Buy a Pie, Change a Life

The Angus Barn chefs are baking the restaurant's famous chocolate chess pie to support the Share the Pie fundraiser.

If pie is on your Thanksgiving menu, why not buy a dessert that does more than feed your family?

Started in 2015, the Share the Pie fundraiser supports the joint mission of StepUp Ministry and Alliance Medical Ministry to build stable families through access to employment and healthcare.

In 2017, the effort raised $78,000. This year, organizers hope to sell 3,000 pies and raise $100,000.

Among the 70 Triangle bakers are several from Western Wake including Catering by Design, Once in a Blue Moon Bakery, Slice Pie Company and Prestonwood Country Club.

Each baker commits to making 12 pies — pumpkin, pecan or chocolate chess — by Monday, Nov. 19, when volunteers collect the pies for distribution. Pie buyers pick up pies at various locations across Raleigh.
