Ever since the May/June issue of Cary Magazine hit stands we’ve been hearing about how delicious all the Taste of the Town featured selections look. We agree, but they are just a small snapshot of what the restaurants have to offer.
Our hard-working food writer David McCreary and photographer Jonathan Fredin got to document a few mouth-watering selections that weren’t included in the six-course sampler in the magazine.
They’re too pretty not to share, so here’s a look at a few additional offerings from our photo shoots.
The Federal’s made-from-scratch Strawberry Shortcake includes fresh succulent strawberries atop a delightfully tender personal-sized shortcake, accompanied by a dollop of thick crème fraiche.
Yuri’s house-specialty Geisha Roll contains shrimp tempura and crab inside with tuna and avocado outside and is served with four distinctive sauces.
Lotus Leaf Café features Pad Ka Pow, aka Crispy Tofu. Delectable crispy pieces of tofu are stir-fried with bell pepper, onion, carrot and fresh basil in garlic chili sauce. This dish is also offered with chicken, beef or pork for those who prefer meat.
Rudy’s Pub & Grill offers chicken wings in a full range of flavors. Milder selections include flavors like garlic parmesan and teriyaki, and some of the hottest options like nuclear explosion require diners to sign a waiver. Pictured are the old standby flavor, spicy buffalo.
