Spring Wine & Brew Walk: Sip, Shop and Support Women in Their Fight Against Cancer

Sip, shop and support cancer research at this year’s Spring Wine & Brew Walk, returning to Waverly Place Thursday, April 28! Attendees can sample red, white and sparkling wine along with local craft beers at select Waverly Place merchants. During the walk, a local artist will be set up with live demonstrations and samples of their work, and guests can purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win a piece of original art. A $25 donation to the Kay Yow Cancer Fund allows access to the event, along with a sampling glass and a Waverly Place Wine Walk passport. All money donated (including the raffle money) will aid in the fight against all cancers affecting women.

Jenny Palmateer spent 10 years coaching basketball at NC State alongside Coach Kay Yow, for whom the nonprofit is named. As a former player and assistant coach of Yow’s, Palmateer is now the vice president of program development for the Kay Yow Cancer Fund and is passionate about raising money for life-saving cancer research and providing quality cancer health care for underserved women.

“Being a part of the Kay Yow Cancer Fund team means keeping Coach Yow’s legacy alive,” said Palmateer. “She had a servant’s heart and cared deeply for others. She never asked why her, but she did want to know that there was a bigger purpose for her 22-year battle with cancer. That purpose became the Kay Yow Cancer Fund. Through the Fund, spirits are lifted and lives are impacted in the fight against all cancers affecting women, and I am proud to be a member of the team.”

If you can’t make it on April 28, save the date for the next Wine & Brew Walk on Thursday, May 26! Tickets are available onsite or in advance online.

If you are interested in helping beyond the Wine & Brew Walk, you can participate in other signature events throughout the year or simply make a donation at kayyow.com.
