The North Carolina Symphony, in keeping with musical tradition, will ring in the new year with the sounds of old Vienna, at Meymandi Concert Hall. The concert begins at 8 p.m., and features internationally renowned soprano Sari Gruber.

The Grand Marquise Ballroom in Garner will host this party benefiting the Caring Community Foundation. Dinner, dancing, a champagne toast and prizes are all part of the fun.
The nonprofit Caring Community Foundation provides financial assistance to cancer patients in and around the Triangle, for basic needs such as rent, utilities, and treatment.

The third annual Run in the New Year is a 5k run and 1-mile fun walk to benefit the Miracle League of the Triangle, a nonprofit organization providing children with special needs the opportunity to play baseball.
The run begins at the stroke of midnight on New Year’s Eve, at Triangle Aquatics Center, 275 Convention Drive. Participants run on a well-lit course, with T-shirts and award recognition for multiple age groups.
