Inspiration Everywhere

Dance with your kids. Try circus camp. Make a birdhouse.

It’s all part of Holly Springs’ Community Arts Festival, running Jan. 30 through Feb. 4, and meant to inspire your own creativity!

“The fifth annual Community Arts Festival will offer more classes, live performances, and local artwork than ever before,” said Kathleen Hebert, Cultural Center manager for the Town of Holly Springs, which partners with the Holly Springs Arts Council to present the festival.

“Join us every night of the festival for performances from local musicians, dancers and actors. On the final festival day, local instructors offer free classes about a wide range of topics, local crafters display their work during an arts and crafts vendor show, and we end the night with a performance by puppeteer and storyteller Doug Berky.

“It’s a day filled with creativity and fun for the entire family!” Hebert said.

Want to be an actor? Give it a go, at the Introduction to Acting Workshop.

Care to dabble in watercolors? Work alongside an artist to learn the techniques.

Mommy and me? Play together in a creative movement class, complete with bean bags and hoops.

Most events during this week-long celebration are free, and all take place at the Holly Springs Cultural Center, located at 300 W. Ballentine St.

Activities also include an artists’ reception, sneak peeks inside band and theater rehearsals, a food truck rodeo, and raffles.

As the grand finale to the Community Arts Festival, Saturday night’s gala has “Play” as its theme, and benefits the efforts of the Holly Springs Arts Council to promote the arts in our community. Gala tickets are $20 in advance, or $25 at the door.

“This festival highlights Holly Springs’ artisans, professional and amateur,” Hebert said, “and celebrates how our community inspires everyone to get creative with the arts.”
