A magical underwater kingdom awaits you, as the all-local cast of the Towne Players of Garner Teens & Kids presents Disney’s Little Mermaid Jr., live on the Garner stage.

Young and old love this tale of the beautiful young mermaid Ariel, who dreams of leaving her ocean home to live in the world above.

Defying her father, King Triton, and making a dangerous deal the evil sea witch Ursula, she works to convince Prince Eric that she’s the girl for him, complete with enchanting voice and … well, legs.

Tickets are available now for three Little Mermaid shows, set for Aug. 9-11 at the Garner Performing Arts Center.

National Night Out

The Garner Police Department will host National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 7 from 6 to 8:30 p.m., in the parking lot of Target at White Oak Shopping Center in Garner.

National Night Out, celebrating its 29th annual event, promotes police-community partnerships, safety and neighborhood unity. The celebration takes place in more than 15,000 communities across the U.S.

The night will include inflatables and other activities for children, and crime- and injury-prevention tips from the Police Department, Garner Volunteer Fire-Rescue Inc., and Wake County EMS.
