About: It’s hard to learn on an empty stomach, and in North Carolina more than one in five households with children suffers from food hardship. In Wake County, more than a third of students apply for free or reduced lunches. While meal programs help, developing minds need extra fuel during the critical stretch between lunch and the end of the day. Snacks@Schools provides snack support directly to classrooms, at no cost to schools, to bridge the gap between lunch and the end of the day for hungry children. This program is currently available at four schools in Cary: Adams Elementary, Reedy Creek Elementary, Cary Elementary and Reedy Creek Middle. This program is the signature program of the The Rotary Club of Raleigh Parkside.

Volunteer Opportunities: The Rotary Club at Raleigh Parkside is a very small club, so we have to get creative with our fundraising. We've done everything from parking cars at a rugby tournament to selling baked goods at NC State football tailgating to raise money for snacks. We also hold a few fundraisers throughout the year including holiday wreath sales, a pub crawl and a whiskey tasting at The Blind Barbour. Our members also volunteer to run donation tables outside area Harris Teeter grocery stores a few times a year.
Donate: Donate by sending snacks straight from Amazon via our wish list: http://a.co/5eRLwTE, making a monetary donation through PayPal at https://paypal.me/RotarySnacks or visiting our club to see if you would like to join and support the cause. We meet every other Wednesday at Honest Abe's Kitchen and Bar.
