Round Up the Goblins!

Gather your little goblins — and even your four-legged furry friends — for lots of Halloween fun across Western Wake!

Activities abound for tricks and treats, from costume contests to a pet parade. We’ve compiled this by-the-town list to point you toward the thrills:


Reel-y Scary Cary

Oct. 23-25, 6 p.m. nightly, Booth Amphitheatre. Tickets are $10 for ages 13 and older, and include a movie and one visit through the Haunted House; additional Haunted House visits are $2 each. (Haunted House not recommended for children under 12.) Blankets, lawn chairs and picnics permitted; concessions also available.

Cary’s Great Pumpkin Carve

Haunted Twilight Tour of Downtown Cary

Halloween Pet Parade

Tricks & Treats Halloween Bash

Oct. 25, 5 to 7 p.m., Herbert C. Young Community Center. Family-friendly carnival for ages 3 to 8; $1 per person. (919) 460-4965

Run Dig Rodeo 5K/1 Mile

Oct. 25, 8 a.m. to noon, Bond Park at the Kiwanis Picnic Shelter. Annual food and fun festival hosted by Hope Chapel of Apex. Race in your costume, and try treats by area food trucks. (919) 673-4685

Haunted Carolina

Oct. 26, 2 to 3 p.m., West Regional Library. Explore ghosts and haunts of North Carolina with Curt House of Triangle Paranormal Investigations; free, registration recommended. (919) 463-8500

Witches Tea for ages 55+

Oct. 29, 2 to 4 p.m., Cary Senior Center. Costumes welcome but not required; $10 per person. (919) 469-4081 

Safe-N-Sane Halloween Celebration

Oct. 31, 6 to 8 p.m., Cary Town Center. Wear your costume and trick-or-treat around the mall, plus sing-a-longs, magic show, and costume contest. (919) 771-1295



Witches on Salem Street

Oct. 24, 5 to 9 p.m., Downtown Apex. Wear your witch’s hat to shop and dine at a discount!

Trick or Treat on Salem Street

Oct. 25, 4 to 6 p.m., Downtown Apex. Businesses and restaurants hand out candy to costumed children.

Goblins Groove Family Dance

Oct. 25, 7 to 9:30 p.m., The Halle Cultural Arts Center. A parent-child dance featuring contests, costumes, punch and snacks. $5 per couple, $2 per additional child.



Spooktacular Trail Walk

Oct. 25, 6 to 10 p.m., Morrisville Community Park. Family-Friendly Trail from 6 to 8 p.m., and Guided Haunted Trail for ages 10 and up from 8 to 10 p.m. Sound and lighting effects, spooky creatures, food trucks; costumes welcome. Free.



Fall Festival

Oct. 24, 4:0 to 8:30 p.m., New School Montessori Center, 5617 Sunset Lake Road. Performances, games, food and fair rides, to raise money for the care and release of sick and injured sea turtles. Tickets are $15. (919) 303-3636

Haunted Hayride

Coffee & Cocoa in the Dog Park

Oct. 25, 9 to 11 a.m., Downtown Dog Park, 110 Woodland Drive. Free coffee or cocoa for you, goodies for your dog! Pooch costumes welcome.

Teen Halloween Costume Party

Oct. 25, 3 to 5 p.m., Fuquay-Varina Community Center. Costume contest and pizza; free.

Halloween Puppet Show

Oct. 29, 11 a.m., Fuquay-Varina Community Center. Free show performed by Carolina Puppet Theater.

Trick or Treat Downtown

Oct. 31, 2 to 5 p.m. Look for the signs at downtown businesses that say Trick or Treat Here.



Trick or Eat Food Truck Rodeo

Oct. 26, noon to 4 p.m., Downtown Garner.  Garner's first-ever food truck event, with 12 local food trucks, craft breweries, musicians and entertainment.

Trick-or-Treat the Trails

Oct. 31, 3 to 6 p.m., White Deer Park. Put on your costume and trick-or-treat your way around this 1-mile loop trail. Children must be accompanied by an adult; parking available across the street at Lake Benson Park.


Kooky Spooky Halloween Party

Oct. 25, 6 to 8:30 p.m., Marbles Kids Museum. Ghoul School, Mad Scientist Lab and more. Tickets start at $8 for members and $10 for non-members. Free.

Halloween Fun Night

Oct. 30, 5 to 8:30 p.m., N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences. Games, live animals, creepy labs, contests, and make-your-own apple juice.
