#TheatreInOurSchools Month

Did you know that March is #TheatreInOurSchools (TIOS) Month? Sponsored by the American Alliance for Theatre & Education (AATE) and the Educational Theatre Association (EdTA), the goal of TIOS is to raise public awareness of the impact of theatre education and to draw more attention to the need for quality programming for students everywhere.

Green Hope High School: “Freaky Friday”

The Green Hope Theatre Company presents Disney’s “Freaky Friday,” a musical based on the novel by Mary Rodgers and the infamous Disney films. Watch as an overworked mother and her teenage daughter swap bodies in this hilarious, contemporary update of an American classic. Shows will run March 31 through April 2. $10/adults, $8/students. Green Level High School: “Footloose”

Green Level High School’s theatre department is excited to present “Footloose,” based on the original screenplay by Dean Pitchford. Set to an Oscar and Tony-nominated soundtrack, it tells the story of a teenager who moves to a small town and attempts to overturn the ban on dancing. Apex Friendship High School: “Mary Poppins”

Apex Friendship High School will be performing “Mary Poppins,” a musical based on the “Mary Poppins” children’s books by P.L. Travers and the 1964 Disney film. Performances will run between March 31 and April 2, and tickets can be purchased online. $15/adults, $10/students. 

Cary Christian School: “You Can’t Take It With You”

Cary Christian’s drama department is thrilled to present “You Can’t Take It With You” by George Kaufman and Moss Hart. A comedy about the importance of living life to the fullest, the play won the 1937 Pulitzer Prize for Drama. Performances will run between April 25-27, and tickets will be available online.

Apex Friendship Middle School: “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown” 

AFMS proudly presents “You’re A Good Man, Charlie Brown,” based on the comic strip “Peanuts” by Charles M. Schulz. Performances will run March 24-26, and tickets are available for purchase online. $8/adults, $5/students.

Fuquay-Varina High School: “The Addams Family”

Fuquay-Varina High School Theatre presents “The Addams Family,” a musical comedy based upon the ghoulish characters created by Charles Addams. Shows will run April 28-30, and tickets can be purchased online. $10/adults, $5/students.
