Honor, Educate, Empower: The Mission of Folds of Honor

At just over two pounds, a folded American flag is far from heavy. But for those who receive it, that weight is immeasurable. It carries the gravity of service and sacrifice. More than fabric, it serves as a reminder that freedom is never free.

Folds of Honor is dedicated to supporting the families of fallen and disabled military and first responders. We spoke with Don Fricke, a board member for the Eastern North Carolina Chapter of Folds of Honor, to learn more about the local chapter.

What is the mission and background of Folds of Honor?

A 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization with inception in 2007, Folds of Honor has awarded over 62,000 life-changing scholarships to families of fallen and disabled military and first responders. We are proud that 91 cents of every dollar donated nationally goes directly to fund scholarships, making us one of the highest-performing nonprofits, as evidenced by our Candid Platinum Transparency Seal, and 4/4 star Charity Navigator ranking.

Our motto says it all: Honor Their Sacrifice, Educate Their Legacy.

Is it a local or national organization?

Folds of Honor is a national organization with 37 local chapters. Like-minded Americans across the nation have created local chapters to champion our mission.

In addition to the Patriot Parachute Team, we are adding the Bandit Flight Team to provide a flyover just prior to the tournament.
