With students at home and many businesses closed, many area families are struggling to get enough to eat. In response, the Wake County School System is working with community groups to run feeding sites throughout the area. Volunteers and local restaurants prepare and distribute food at area schools, churches and community centers. Meals are distributed curbside to minimize safety concerns.

In Cary, Reedy Creek and Briarcliff elementary schools distribute breakfast and lunch Mon.–Fri., 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

First United Methodist Church in Cary is partnering with local restaurants to help serve hot lunches to those in need, Mon.–Fri., 12:15 to 1:15 p.m. 

In Morrisville, volunteers at Crosstimbers Apartments, 900 Golden Horseshoe Circle, serve meals Mon.–Fri., noon to 1 p.m.

Free dinners are available at Chatham Forest Apartments, 880 Glendale, in Cary, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays; Apex First Baptist Church, 419 South Salem St., Apex, 6:30 – 7:30 p.m., Mondays and Wednesdays; and Arbors of Cary, 200 Wrenn Drive, Cary, 6 – 7 p.m., Mon.–Thurs.
