It’s Time to Pick Up Delicious Local Strawberries

Strawberry season is officially upon us, and local farms are ready for you! You-pick, that is. Have some socially distanced, outdoor fun this spring at your favorite berry patches and local farmers markets. Many farms are offering pick-your-own and pre-picked options, so check out our round up of local strawberry farms, and plan a sweet weekend for your family.

DJ’s Berry Patch
1223 Salem Church Road, Apex
Enjoy pre-picked berries and the opening of you-pick fields in early May. DJ’s is located just outside of downtown Apex, and they also have fresh herbs, flowers and seasonal produce.

Phillips Farm of Cary
6701 Good Hope Church Road, Cary
No you-pick fields available, but it’s still the sweetest time of year at Phillips Farm. Pick up farm fresh strawberries from the farm store, or their Farmers Market on the weekends. Can’t get enough berries? Mark your calendar for their Strawberry Festival coming up on May 15 and 16.

Buckwheat Farm
2700 Holland Road, Apex
Pick-your-own strawberry fields are expected to open the last week of April. The farm also has jams, jellies, shiitake mushrooms and local honey for sale.

Porter Farms & Nursery — Now with two locations!
3525 NC Highway 42, Willow Spring

7615 Ten-Ten Road, Raleigh
Porter Farms offers pre-picked and you-pick strawberries at both locations. Raleigh location is conveniently located at the corner of Ten-Ten and Lake Wheeler Road, with five acres of berries to enjoy.

Ogburn Berries and Produce
13065 Old Stage Road, Willow Spring
You-pick fields are open now, with berries galore! Stop by the farm and enjoy berries, veggies, flowers, fresh eggs, and other rotating treats.

Jean’s Berry Patch
38 Lewter Shop Road, Apex
Jean’s is not offering you-pick, but you can reserve strawberries ahead of time and pick up via convenient drive-through or walk-up window options.

Fresh berries and other seasonal produce are also available at local farmers markets.
