Baked Cookies & Dough dives headfirst into a sweet treat every impatient baker has helped themselves to in the kitchen — cookie dough.
The new family-friendly business located in the middle of MacGregor Village offers a versatile menu centered around seven flavors of safe-to-eat cookie dough, served cold and scooped like ice cream.
From Oreo to s’mores, brownie batter or red velvet, each flavor is worthy of licking the bowl clean and evokes family-time memories. The classic chocolate chip cookie dough is creamy and packed with sweet morsels. With each greedy bite, you will almost forget you don’t need to save any for baking.
While it’s not recommended to eat most cookie dough, this shop makes its dough with heat-treated flour and without eggs, so it’s safe and delicious.
“I think everybody’s snuck some cookie dough when their mom or grandma was making cookies. So, everybody has a soft spot in their heart for cookie dough memories as a child,” said owner Dan Bernard, who opened the shop with his wife, Sara, on Sept. 10. “But you don’t have to be just a kid to come in and enjoy it.”
The shop also offers soft, chewy cookies that are served warm out of the oven, a worthy and flavorful counterpart to the cold dough. Other menu items include rich buttercream soft serve ice cream, cookie and dough-flavored milkshakes, cookie ice cream sandwiches, and hot and iced coffee.
The Bernards, parents of a 6-year-old, had been to similar businesses in their travels and thought a shop selling edible cookie dough would be perfect for Cary. Their store is the first franchise location of the West Chester, Pennsylvania-based company.
“When we came across the edible cookie dough, we just thought it would be awesome for this community with the amount of families, and just something for people to come out and enjoy,” Dan Bernard said.
While the couple has not owned a franchise before, they are experienced entrepreneurs. Ten years ago, the couple started local restaurant delivery service 919Dine, which they recently sold.
“We decided after 10 years we were ready for a new chapter in our lives,” Dan Bernard said.
Cookie dough can also be taken to-go and refrigerated for a week or frozen for up to two months, according to the menu.
