Want to try a chicken curry donut? How about an avocado cream tea? Or maybe some purple sweet potato and raisin bread?
These unusual items along with abundant other sweet and savory selections are all waiting for you at Brecotea Baking Studio, Cary’s newest Asian-style café and hangout. A franchise concept that started in Richmond, Va., the Cary store marks the eatery’s second location.
“We want to grab the attention of everyone, so that is why we have such a wide variety of items,” co-proprietor and general manager Pimpatra “Noo” Sumkasataya said at the Brecotea grand opening on July 31.
Pastries such as mango yogurt Danishes, raspberry cream cheese buns and orange chocolate croissants are showcased in beautiful glass display cases. Everything is made in house daily by an award-winning master chef from Taiwan.
Want some protein? Order a cheese bun stuffed with seasoned tuna, a ham and egg sandwich, or a hot dog baguette.
Desserts range from fig cheesecake and macarons to mille crepes and ice cream.
“We also have milkshakes,” Sumkasataya said.
Refreshing fruit- and milk-infused drink options are plentiful. Try a watermelon or kiwi milk cap tea, a matcha latte cream tea or boba brown sugar coffee. To kick up the flavor and texture profile, vibrant add-ins include crystal pearls, bubbles, herbal jelly and red beans.
Hot and cold coffee beverages are available, including lattes, espressos, Americanos, macchiatos and piccolos.
The tantalizing creations are all served in an ultramodern building with honeycomb-style light fixtures and ample tables, chairs, barstools and banquettes for relaxing and enjoying tranquility. There’s even a library for those who want to get lost in a good book.
Physical distancing and safety protocols are paramount, as evidenced by employees serving items to guests while wearing masks and gloves.
“We take the temperatures of our employees each day,” said Sumkasataya, a native of Thailand. “We do our best to make this a safe place for everybody.”
Brecotea is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. to midnight Friday and Saturday.
