10 Dog-Friendly Places to Sniff Out

Maui, owned by Dana Duvernay, hangs out at Pharmacy Bottle + Beverage in Cary.

With spring in full swing, it’s the perfect time to get out of the house and enjoy your favorite local spots. Why not take your furry friend along for the ride? With your help, we put together a list of pet-friendly restaurants and breweries that you (and Fido) will love.

1. Bond Brothers Beer Company
Ample outdoor seating makes Bond Brothers’ downtown Cary location an excellent option to enjoy with your pets. Owners can try a diverse menu of locally brewed craft beer and rotating selection of food trucks daily. Per their website, dogs must be friendly and always remain on a leash at the brewery.

“We love it because there’s a decent sized indoor and outdoor space, great beer and the aesthetic is on point. It seems like everyone brings their dogs,” says Brianna Forbes.

2. Pharmacy Bottle + Beverage
Pharmacy loves meeting local dogs so much that they made their own Instagram account for them (@pharmdogs). Stop by, snap a pic of your pet, and tag them to be featured on their feed. Pups are permitted inside the bottle shop or can enjoy lounging on the patio, while owners enjoy 16 rotating taps and a selection of wine.

3. Scratch Kitchen and Taproom
Located in the heart of downtown Apex, Scratch Kitchen offers multiple options for your furry friends. Choose outdoor seating behind the Tobacco Mule Exchange building, or opt for covered seats on the patio. Either way, Scratch has space for you and your four-legged friend to enjoy together.

4. La Farm Bakery
This popular breakfast, brunch, and lunch spot is a favorite among locals, but did you know they offer a special treat for pups too? Treat your four-legged friend to a pup cup as you try La Farm’s selection of fresh-baked breads and curated menu items.

“La Farm often offers pup cups. They also have water bowls in the outdoor seating area. The staff is super friendly with dogs and come to greet when possible,” says Rocio Lopez, owner of Brie the Australian Labradoodle.

5. Hickory Tavern
With heaters, fans, and a covered top, Morrisville’s Hickory Tavern patio is popular among dogs and humans. Fido can join you in the outdoor seating area, while you catch a game on TV and enjoy something from the menu of bar fare and brews.

6. HighCraft
Craft beer bottle shop and tasting bar HighCraft encourages visitors to bring their pets. Dogs are welcome inside the bar and on the back patio. Several water bowls are available to use, so dogs can feel refreshed as you shop and sip local craft beer and wine.

7. Abbey Road
With outdoor seating at both Cary and Apex locations, Abbey Road is a popular spot for people with pets. Soak up the spring weather with your pup, jam out with a rotating schedule of local musicians, and enjoy their award-winning Beatle Burgers.

8. Fortnight Brewing Company
Situated just outside of downtown Cary, Fortnight Brewing Company creates English-style craft ales for humans and offers a fun spot for dogs. The brewery has plenty of pet-friendly seating, inside and out. If you’re looking for extra fun, join their run club or stop in for trivia, both hosted on Monday nights.

9. Crosstown Pub and Grill
Outdoor seating, daily menu specials, and a big selection of craft beer and wine makes Crosstown a favorite for locals and their dogs. If you can get enough of their pet-friendly atmosphere, pick up a T-shirt with the pub’s mascot, Frank, to take home.

10. Raleigh Beer Garden
With over 350 beers on tap, spacious outdoor areas, and a special menu for pups, Raleigh Beer Garden makes the list as one of the most pet-friendly places in town. Owners can enjoy lunch, dinner, or weekend brunch while dogs can choose from the “Hungry Dawgs” menu. Bark plates include Bacon! Bacon, Bacon, Bacon, three slices of fresh bacon, and Bone Thugs and Harmonice Cream, one scoop of ice cream topped with a doggy biscuit.
