Zombies Wanted

Attention, zombie lovers: You have until Sept. 8 to confirm your participation in The Cary Theater’s Zombiepalooza!

Now in its second year, Zombiepalooza is downtown Cary’s zombie-themed block party, featuring locally-produced short films shown on a large outdoor screen in front of the theater on Chatham Street.

To take part, shoot and submit a one-to-five-minute zombie film you make solo or with a team. No fancy cameras required — even a phone will do. A key rule: Each film must use a toilet bowl brush as a visible prop!

Deadline to confirm participation is Sept. 8, and film submissions are due by Oct. 6.

Then, on Oct. 27, sit back and watch your film on the big screen at Zombiepalooza, where the audience will choose the winner of Zombiepalooza 2017!

Also part of the Zombiepalooza weekend is the second annual Sick Chick Flicks Film Festival. This locally-produced festival includes more than 50 short films in the horror, sci-fi or fantasy genres, including works by indie filmmakers from North Carolina and around the world.

This festival emphasizes women filmmakers and their participation in primary production roles, and runs Saturday, Oct. 28 and Sunday, Oct. 29.
