Join the Morrisville Rotary for its third annual Wines Around the World Wine Tasting event on Aug. 18 from 6–8:30 p.m., at the General Aviation Terminal at RDU airport.
All funds raised go to local charities the Rotary supports throughout the year, including Life Experiences, the Carying Place, Flight of Hope, Boys and Girls Homes of N.C., Miracle League of the Triangle, and the USO of N.C. Last year’s event raised $10,000, and the inaugural year raised $7,000.
The tasting will include wine supplied by the Wine Merchant in Cary, as well as heavy appetizers. “We try to pick unique wines that are a little more difficult to find,” said Morrisville Rotary President Michele Nicklis.
Wines from about eight countries will be featured, and attendees will receive a “passport” listing all the wines featured with suggested food pairings.
A raffle with items like golf apparel, sporting event tickets, spa treatments, rounds of golf, wine accessories, hotel stays and more will also be featured. Nicklis says the raffle differs a bit from traditional raffle format, with attendees able to buy as many tickets as they desire, which they then drop into a box in front of each item they desire to win.
Saxophonist Peter Jordan, formerly a member of renowned R&B band Heatwave, will provide music throughout the evening.
Tickets are $35 each, or two for $60. Purchase online or visit the Morrisville Rotary Club site for more information.
