Drop everything and head to downtown Cary this weekend, for two BIG days of family fun!
On Saturday, it’s Celebrate the Street, a community-wide party for Cary’s new Downtown Park and completion of the Academy Street renovation project.
“The renovations along Academy Street are finished, and now it’s time to show it off, and Downtown Park with a special celebration and dedication,” said Sonya Snyder, Special Services supervisor.
“We are excited to have citizens come out and see for themselves the ongoing transformation of downtown Cary by enjoying an evening of amazing sights and sounds for all ages.”
From 4:30 to 9 p.m., downtown will be alive with music, food and beverage trucks, street performers, and games including bocce, table tennis, foosball and cornhole, plus make-and-take crafts for kids.
At 6:30 p.m., Downtown Park will get its official dedication from the town. A ceremonial coin will be flipped into the fountain to mark the occasion, and you’re invited to bring coins to join in the celebration. All money collected will help support the town’s Relief for Recreation Scholarship Fund.
The grand finale to the evening’s festivities will be a light and music show at the park’s fountain at dusk, approximately 8:45 p.m.
There’s more!
On Sunday, June 25, Cary’s Downtown Chowdown food truck rodeo moves to a new location along Academy Street, and runs from 12:30 to 5 p.m., featuring your favorite food trucks, along with local beer and wine vendors, and live music.
