Senior Citizens Needed for Cary Senior Advisory Board

Jenean Todd, Cary Senior Center trips and outreach coordinator, laughs with seniors as they board a bus, above, heading to Raleigh for a N.C. Symphony concert and lunch at Tupelo Honey. Other outings organized by senior center staff include a train trip to Selma, N.C., and an Ava Gardner-inspired tour of Smithfield, N.C.

Senior citizens, and those involved with senior services, who are interested in directly impacting the issues facing Cary’s aging population, are invited to apply now through March 21 to serve on the Cary Town Council’s new Senior Advisory Board.

“In this recruitment, we are looking for those who have helped shape Cary, as well as those involved with this generation, to guide the way to the future of Cary. I look forward to being the liaison to this group and seeing all the good work that this Board will accomplish,” said Council Member Ed Yerha, who will serve as Council Liaison to the Senior Advisory Board.

Board members will collaborate with Staff to advise Council in creating an inclusive and connected environment to support senior services in Cary.

The establishment of a Cary Senior Advisory Board was approved by the Cary Town Council at its October 22, 2020 regular meeting. Applicants must reside within Cary corporate limits. Terms are expected to begin in April. Interested citizens can complete an application or learn more at townofcary.org/SeniorAdvisoryBoard or by calling (919) 319-4508.
