Open wide and say Ahhh, as Cary Family Dental hosts its fifth annual Dentistry From the Heart event on Saturday, April 23.
“Despite the recovering economy, many adults in our area are unable to afford dental care,” said Dr. Allan Acton of Cary Family Dental. “Through this annual Dentistry From The Heart event, we have the ability to give back to the community and provide service for those in need.”
Adults 18 and older with a valid ID can receive a free extraction, filling or cleaning from a team of nine dentists, assisted by staff and university student volunteers.
The event takes place at Cary Family Dental, located at 1149 Kildaire Farm Road in Cary.
Patients should arrive early, for first-come, first-served service. Registration begins at 7 a.m., and the first 100 patients are guaranteed to be seen.
Patients will be seen through 5 p.m., and are encouraged to dress appropriately for the weather and to bring chairs, water and snacks for the outdoor wait for their turn in the dental chair.
Free T-shirts and toothbrushes will be distributed to the first 100 patients in line, and refreshments from Starbucks, Chick-fil-A and Ruckus Pizza will be available throughout the day. Live music will be provided by Chris Overstreet.
Dentistry From The Heart is a national nonprofit organization dedicated to providing free dental care to those who need it. Every year, individual dentists and practices donate their time and resources to host their own DFTH events. For more information, visit dentistryfromtheheart.org.
Over the first four years of the Cary event, Acton and the staff of Cary Family Dental have provided almost $250,000 in free dental services to more than 600 adults.
