Here’s to Beer

Beer, bourbon and barbecue: The name pretty much says it all.

The Beer, Bourbon & BBQ Festival saw a sell-out crowd last year in Cary, and is back this year with more fun set for this Friday night and Saturday.

The beer, bourbon, live music, cigar smoking and barbecue eating will all take place at Booth Amphitheatre, including a Friday night pig pickin’ from 6 to 10, and a Saturday session from 2 to 6 p.m.

Go “hog wild” over more than 40 bourbons and 60 beers up for the tasting, included with admission, along with a sampling glass for all-you-care-to-taste sampling.

As for the barbecue, enjoy the selection from Deep South pit masters! From whole-hog pulled pork to ribs, brisket, chicken and sausage, there’s something for everyone, complete with fixings.

Don’t miss the Cary BBQ Classic 2013 while you’re here, sanctioned by the North Carolina Barbecue Society. This fourth-annual event showcases barbecue teams battling it out for the title of Grand Champion.

And because everybody needs to digest now and then, take a break to hear live rock, blues and bluegrass on the main stage, and check out contests like the Triangle’s Best Beer Belly.

Browse the exhibits of “Brewerania,” hot sauces and barbecue accessories, and check out the cigar tent if you dare.

Ticket prices vary, but regular Saturday admission is $35 in advance or $45 onsite. For ticket info, visit boothamphitheatre.com or call (919) 462-2025.
