For the Girls

It’s police versus firefighters in this basketball battle, and we already know who wins: The girls.

The tournament, hosted by the Holly Springs High Schools Golden Hawks Booster Club, serves as a fundraiser for the school’s girls basketball team. It also helps raise awareness of the Mayor’s Anti-Bullying Campaign.

Set for this Saturday, Dec. 3, the tourney features players from Holly Springs, Morrisville, Probation Cary, and Duke police departments, the Raleigh Fire Department and Wake County EMS.

From 3 to 7 p.m., they’ll take to the court to vie for the championship title, with games and prizes for the crowd during halftime.

Also on hand will be special guests Tynesha Lewis and Chasity Melvin of the WNBA, and Holly Springs Mayor Dick Sears. The games will take place at Holly Springs High, located at 5329 Cass Holt Road.

Tickets are $5, and are available at GoldenHawksClub.org. Children under age 5 will be admitted free.
