Check Out the Challenge

Local teen Rusty Martin Jr. is among the stars of a new film making its statewide debut in a unique setting this weekend, as Jackson’s Run takes the screen during the three-day Impact Challenge.

Designed as a youth-centered event for the entire Raleigh region, event coordinator Cindy Privette says Impact Challenge will feature live music, films, speakers and much more, at the 50-acre Norris Creek Entertainment Complex in Louisburg.

Kicking off on Friday night, July 26, the weekend features a jam-packed schedule of band performances by the likes of Second Perception, Place of Rest, Footstool and Jordan River, founded by bluegrass great and another local, Lorraine Jordan.

The food and fun continue on Saturday with breakout sessions like Total Sports Clinic, led by former Indianapolis Colts player Quintus McDonald; Chris Robinson, who also stars in Jackson’s Run: and several others.

Activities continue again on Sunday with “U.P.R.O.A.R. the Celebration.”

Martin, who also starred in the popular faith-based film, Courageous, portrays a reckless teen with legal troubles in Jackson’s Run, faced with life’s right-or-wrong choices, the perils of friendship and the meaning of faith. To view the trailer for Jackson’s Run, see jacksonsrunfilm.com.

Other stars of the movie include T.C. Stallings, co-writer Chris Robinson, and Melissa Todd.

"Admission armbands for the event are just $5 per person, and will be valid for all three days," Privette said.
