Beyond Golf: The Jimmy V Classic

Twenty years of work toward a cure for cancer are being marked this weekend, as the Jimmy V Golf Classic Weekend of events tees off, continuing the efforts of The V Foundation to raise funds for cancer research.

The Cary-based foundation is dedicated to preserving the legacy of late coach Jim Valvano, whose energy and spirit inspired many during his public battle with cancer as he declared, “Don’t give up … don’t ever give up.”

In its 20 years, The V Foundation has awarded more than $100 million to more than 100 facilities nationwide and awards 100 percent of direct donations and net event proceeds to cancer research.

The Jimmy V Golf Classic Weekend runs today through Sunday. Beyond the golf is something for everyone.
