Hurricanes, floods and fires — our country has seen them all in recent weeks.
What should YOU do in the event of a disaster?
Find out, as the Cary Community Emergency Response Team, or CERT, hosts its first-ever Fall Into Action event, on Saturday, Sept. 9.
September is National Preparedness Month, as declared by FEMA, a reminder to prepare for any type of emergency that can affect us. Organizers of the free CERT event say it will include hands-on stations teaching what to do in an emergency or disaster at home or in public situations, along with special entertainment for children.
Fall Into Action will be held at Centrum Plaza, 2342 Walnut St., in Cary, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday.
Cary CERT is a nonprofit sponsored by the Cary Fire Department, which educates people about disaster preparedness and trains them in disaster response skills so that they can assist others when professional responders are not immediately available to help.
