The NHL is back! And the Hurricanes are dishing out months of pent-up special events for opening night.

Our hometown hockey team will take on the Tampa Bay Lightning Tuesday night at PNC Arena for opening night Jan. 22, followed by the Buffalo Sabres Jan. 24.

The Canes will play their first game of the abbreviated 48-game season on Saturday at the Florida Panthers.

Through Jan. 24, all team gear is 50 percent off at The Eye team store.

Other perks of opening night include hot dogs, popcorn and sodas for $1 each; a giveaway flag for all attendees; more than $50,000 in prizes; and two former Canes, part of the Stanley Cup Championship-winning team, signing autographs.
