It’s not every day we get invited to a milkshake contest — yum!
Spiced Pumpkin Pie, Strawberry Cheesecake, PB&J and Pina Colada were the four flavors set before guests in the PDQ milkshake contest early this week, each created by a team member from the Cary location.
“Every year PDQ holds a team member contest to create a shake, with the potential for it to go onto next year’s seasonal rotation in PDQ locations nationwide,” said Operating Director Nathan Bartlett. “It’s their chance to get creative.”
Of the approximately 30 entries at the Cary location, suggestions like an anchovy shake were “immediate no’s,” Bartlett said, while others made it through to the next round.
PDQ prides itself on the use of real milk, ice cream and fruit in its shakes, fudge rather than chocolate, and name brand toppings.
The local winner of the contest earns a $500 Visa gift card, is entered into a drawing for airline tickets, and will compete against winners from other PDQ locations to make the official menu.
And now, drum roll please … winner of the Cary PDQ milkshake contest is Chris Hauser, creator of the Strawberry Cheesecake shake.
