Adopt Your New Best Friend

Shop with your heart and give a homeless pet a loving home this Christmas. For the month of December, all cats in the 2PawsUp program in Raleigh age 1 and older have a reduced adoption fee of just $75.

“We want to give all these great cats a home for the holidays,” said Jessica Stall, president of 2PawsUp, which started in early 2007 to save animals on death row in high-kill shelters by providing needed medical care and finding them loving, safe forever homes.

All kittens can be adopted for the regular fee of $115, and dog adoption fees are $135, except for dogs that were spayed or neutered prior to entering the program. They are available at a reduced fee of $90. For more details and to arrange a visit, go to www.2pawsup.org or e-mail Stall at adoptions2pawsup@gmail.com.

Capone
Like his mama Ebony, Capone is a low-key type of guy. He’s more the intellectual and very sensitive. He is vocal and will meow for his food. He is a bit shy until he knows you. Once he adjusts, he will bond to you and is very gentle, allowing you to pick him up so he can sit on your lap. He would fit best in a couple, single or household with older children. Estimated DOB: April 15, 2009.

Corey
This sweetie pie is looking for a new home. Still a baby, Corey loves to snuggle and is very healthy. Corey is good with cats and dogs, and has been exposed to young children too. Estimated DOB: April 8, 2010.

Jill
Pulled from a local shelter right before she was born, Jill has grown up in foster home and is ready for a forever home. She loves to swim more than anything in the world. Jill would be happy with an individual or family willing to take her swimming. She also enjoys fetching and going to the dog park. Jill is good with cats, dogs and kids. Her house manners are amazing and she is fully house-trained. Her foster mom says she’s a really good girl and will make some family really happy. Estimated DOB: April 23, 2010

Kit Kat
This lovely long and lean kitty loves to be petted. Her owner left for Iraq and now she needs a new home. Until this graceful feline knows you, she is shy and will hide. In a day or so, Kit Kat will venture out for a petting, sleep on your bed and even climb into your lap. She is very affectionate but doesn’t like to be picked up. Kit Kat is coexisting in an eight-cat foster home, but would prefer to have less feline company. If you think this regal lady would fit into your home, complete an online application to meet her. Estimated DOB: Oct. 19, 2004

Kylie
This is one laid-back cat. Once in a while, she likes to join in the fun with her brother Jasper, but prefers to lay in your lap for some attention. She’s been known to climb between her foster mom and her laptop to grab her attention. Kylie has very silky fur, and her foster mom says her meow sounds like a Siamese cat. She is elegant and a snuggle bug. She really loves her brother Jasper and would like to be adopted with him, but she can do well on her own as well. Estimated DOB: July 15, 2007.

Ms. Chance
Sweet is the perfect word to describe Chance who got her name after her second chance in life. She and her three puppies were rescued from the shelter just one day before they were to be euthanized. Her babies have all found forever homes and now it’s her turn. She is about 2 years old, looks like a mix of shepherd and shar-pei and has a cute little stub tail that wags all the time. She is great with kids and other dogs but likes to be the dog incharge.

She enjoys playing tug-of-war and going on walks, but her favorite is to sit out on the deck in the sun and watch the world go by. She is a very calm dog, sits patiently as she waits her turn for a treat and gingerly takes it out of her foster parents’ hand. Chance likes cats a little too much, so she would do best in a home with no cats to distract her. She is fully house-trained, knows to sit and is smart enough to keep on learning. She is very protective of her family and would fit into almost any situation or family dynamic, though she may be too big and excited for small children. As long as you like to scratch behind her ears and give a belly rub sometimes, she can be yours at the reduced fee.
