For couple Lindsay Cutting and Shawn Ryals, spending time at Lake Johnson was a common occurrence. Lindsay raised a slight eyebrow when Shawn suggested they stop at the lake dressed for dinner with Lindsay’s father. But her dad is a photographer, and Shawn claimed he wanted to take pictures of the couple as a special gift.

When Shawn proposed that evening at the lake’s boathouse, Lindsay knew just how special a gift it was. With visions of a “classic and timeless” wedding, the pair pulled together their “wedding dream team” to help them execute their special day: planner Sally Oakley, photographer Dara Blakeley and DJ Randy Bennett.

“A favorite and memorable part of the day was the first look between me and Shawn and the bridal party photographs with Dara Blakeley,” said Lindsay. “… She has this energy about her that is so uplifting and amazing to be around.”

Officiant Robin Renteria helped the couple craft a personalized ceremony, which included a meaningful rose ceremony. The couple exchanged a single rose, a symbol of love, as their first gift as a married couple. On each anniversary going forward, an exchange of roses will represent a recommitment to their marriage. And during any challenging times they may face, a gift of a single rose simply means “I love you.”
