Take A Walk, Find a Cure

A good deed is just a walk away!

Now’s the time to register for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation’s annual Great Strides event, which brings together tens of thousands of people nationwide to find a cure for this life-threatening disease.

Locally, the Foundation’s Carolinas Raleigh Chapter will host a Great Strides walk on Saturday, May 16. It starts with an inspiring send-off, and ends with a celebration filled with food, music and festivities for  families, friends and co-workers.

When you step out, here’s what you’re fighting:

  • Cystic fibrosis, or CF, affects the lungs and digestive system of an estimated 30,000 children and adults in the U.S.
  • Living with CF means clogged lungs, life-threatening lung infections, and the body’s inability to break down food and absorb vital nutrients.
  • Life expectancy for people with CF has risen to the 40s, thanks to research and treatments.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation funds more CF research than any other organization, and nearly every CF drug available today was made possible by Foundation support.

The May 16 walk will be held on the Credit Suisse Campus, located at 7033 Louis Stephens Drive in Morrisville.

Registration begins at 9 a.m., and the walks start at 10. There’s no registration fee, but participants who raise $100 receive a commemorative walk T-shirt.
