Ta da! The winner of our Mother’s Day contest —and a $150 gift card to Bailey’s Fine Jewelry — is Kim Armstrong of Cary.

Here’s her winning entry:

“For my husband and his family, this Mother’s Day will be bittersweet. We will be celebrating by having a family picnic on Saturday, May 9, at a local park in honor of my mother-in-law, Nola.

She will be 82 years young in September. She will be surrounded by children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Typically Nola hosts most of the family get-togethers, but this will be the first gathering that the family will have without being able to meet in her home. She will be moving into a retirement facility in June.

Even though it brings new and exciting experiences, Nola had always planned to live her life out in her home, the place she and her husband had shared, the home she raised her children in, and the place she welcomed friends.

She is a loving, giving and caring lady. She has many talents and hobbies: sewing, quilt-making, bowling, playing piano and traveling. We love her very much.
