The days are getting longer, and the temperature is rising. It’s time to stretch those legs!
These local run groups offer an opportunity to socialize while you exercise (often followed by a beer).
Monday
Cary Run Club – Downtown Cary Park, 6:30 p.m. – Meet at the fountain and head out on an all-paces-friendly 5K route with a highly welcoming group averaging 5 to 15 runners.
Fortnight Run Club – Fortnight Brewing, Cary, 6:30 p.m. – Work up an appetite, then stop by the rotating weekly food truck. Non-runners can camp out for trivia night.
Morgan Street Run Club – Bend Bar, Raleigh, 6 p.m. – Part of the nOG Run Club, claiming the title of “the nation’s original pub run,” this group is also the oldest weekly run club in Raleigh. Keep a lookout for the Dix Park Run Club, also from nOG, later this spring.
Tuesday
Bond Brothers Run Club – Bond Brothers Beer Company, Cary, 6 p.m. – Run 3 or 5 miles, then strike up a conversation with fellow runners over a cold one. Check in each week to earn swag, from a shirt to a spot on the Century Club plaque.
Thursday
Flying Penguins Run Club – Sneaky Penguin Brewing Company, Raleigh, 6 p.m. – Great for new runners! 2-, 3-, or 5-mile options, plus coaching from experienced runners. Get a Flying Penguins T-shirt after 10 runs.
Saturday
Cary Run Club – Cary-area greenways, 7:30 a.m. – This group explores a different greenway each week. Planned routes usually span 3 to 8 miles, but attendees training for races often opt for longer distances.
Sunday
Flying Penguins Run Club – Sneaky Penguin Brewing Company, Raleigh, noon – Great for new runners! 2-, 3-, or 5-mile options, plus coaching from experienced runners. Get a Flying Penguins T-shirt after 10 runs.
