Help make the holiday special for local children this year with a donation to the third-annual Bikes for Hope drive.
This year’s goal: distribute 150 bikes and helmets through the United Church Christmas Store and the Polar Express Christmas Experience.
“There are kids who have nothing that’s gonna be under a Christmas tree. Nobody deserves that. No kid deserves that,” says Tim Overton, founder and organizer of Bikes for Hope.
Last year, the drive put 256 bikes in the hands of area kids, as well as donating $5,500 to the local food pantry.

Drop off or ship donations to Hope Community Church Apex, 2080 E. Williams St., Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. A GoFundMe has been set up for financial contributions at https://gofund.me/2d4514fb0. Any funds donated after December 6 will go to the Hope Community Church food pantry.
Community members are invited to help assemble donated bikes and share in the positive holiday spirit at a Bike Build event on Sunday, December 7, at 12:30 p.m. at Hope Apex.
“There’s joy in saying yes to serving,” Tim says. “And the peace that comes with it? You can’t explain it until you’ve felt it.”
