The Alliance for Historic Hillsborough

About: VISITOR SERVICES We work to inspire visitors and residents to enjoy all that Hillsborough has to offer. We manage the Hillsborough Visitors Center and Gift Shop at the Historic Alexander Dickson House. We also serve as the primary resource for visitor information, create and distribute brochures and handouts to visitors, and work with the Tourism Board to develop and manage an active publicity program to promote Hillsborough. EDUCATION We provide educational programs for local public, private, and home school groups. These include small group tours as well as special programs dedicated to the town of Hillsborough and its history. We also provide a variety of guided tours focused on experiencing America’s history through the unique perspective of one of North Carolina’s oldest and most historically significant small towns. Additionally, we produce several special events each year that focus on the history, vibrancy and beauty of Hillsborough. PRESERVATION We encourage people to experience authentic Hillsborough. In collaboration with Hillsborough’s historical sites, local government, and engaged citizens, we advocate for the sustainable preservation of important community assets. We also serve as stewards of one of Hillsborough’s oldest and most historically important buildings.
