Triangle Youth Brass Bands Present “The Red Machine”

Apr 23, 2017 @ 3:00 pm - 5:00 pm

$5 – $10

Celebrating 20 years of music making, the award-winning Triangle Youth Brass Bands present their final concert of the 2016-2017 season, The Red Machine. Special guest artist for the concert is Mr. Gabriel DiMartino, one of the most versatile young trumpet artists in the United States today. Mr. DiMartino, who serves as Assistant Professor of Trumpet at East Carolina University, has performed with the Wichita Symphony, the New Columbian Brass Band, and the Doc Severinsen Big Band. He has been a featured recitalist, performing both jazz and classical trumpet at The International Trumpet Guild in many locations across the world. Mr. DiMartino will solo with each of the three Youth Brass Band; his solo works include Nessun Dorma, by Puccini, arr. Snell, Maid of the Mist, by Herbert L. Clarke, and Concertpiece for Cornet, by James Curnow.

The individual ensembles present a selection of contemporary brass band works, including Deep Harmony (Parker, arr. Moore), Four Renaissance Dances (Gervaise, arr. Fernie), The Last Night of Fall (Etienne Crausaz), The Kingdom Triumphant (Eric Ball), Festive Overture (Shostakovich arr. Kitson) and the original brass band composition The Red Machine, by Peter Graham, among others. This afternoon of fun and exciting music, featuring some of the area’s finest young brass players, is sure to be a great musical experience!
