Triangle Traditional Jazz Society Mardi Gras Musical Event

Feb 28, 2017 @ 8:00 pm - 10:30 pm

The Triangle Traditional Jazz Society (TTJS) presents a musical Mardi Gras celebration featuring Gregg Gelb and the Second Line Stompers performing traditional Dixieland jazz on Fat Tuesday, February 28, 8 p.m. at A Step to Gold Ballroom, Raleigh.

As is tradition in New Orleans, toe tapping, heart pumping jazz gives way to the Lenten season on Fat Tuesday and local favorite Gregg Gelb will lead the musical fun featuring Greg Cagle, cornet and vocals, Dave Wright, trombone and vocals, Steve Wing, piano and vocals, George Knott bass, Dave Albert, drums and Gelb on clarinet.

TTJS offers public performances and educational opportunities for national and local musicians and bands to come together to play, learn, and follow traditional jazz, otherwise known as Dixieland, the music that came out of the cotton fields and bayous to cities, notably New Orleans, and later to St. Louis, Chicago, and New York in the early decades of the last century.
