The Scrap Exchange to host Smashfest on Black Friday

The Scrap Exchange will host the ninth annual Smashfest Event & Fundraiser in Lakewood Shopping Center on Black Friday, November 29^th from 3pm – 7pm. Participants are encouraged to purchase items and then smash them by throwing them against a wall (for purely treaputic reasons, of course.) Proceeds from the event provide ongoing support for The Scrap Exchange’s mission of promoting creativity, environmental awareness, and community through reuse.

In its ninth year, Smashfest returns with even more breakables (plates, mugs, ceramics, vases, tchotchkes, etc.!) seeking to provide an alternative to holiday consumerism overload. Festivities include free art making opportunities (including a SmashCrafts activity that repurposes smoothed glass shards for art projects), games, kids activities, live entertainment, music by Durham-based Gar-UD, firepits, and s’mores.

This year’s event is being presented in part with funding from Zarazua Painting. Succotash Food Truck will be providing food for purchase throughout the event.
