Root Down Collective is a Raleigh based group founded on fun and engaging music grounded in the hard-bop era of the jazz tradition.

The band is led by saxophonist Garret Hitmar who pursues the sound of Dexter Gordon and Stanley Turrentine, along with Brigham Jensen on trombone. The rhythmic foundation of the band is held down by Silas Seigler on drums, Chris Mills on bass, and Brandon Shamar on piano.
