Futurebirds Live in Concert

Jul 29, 2017 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Another weekend, another great new event at Cary’s Downtown Park, 319 S. Academy St., as the Futurebirds take the stage for Cary LIVE on July 29 from 7-9 p.m. for a free concert. This is the first in a series of events during the summer that will feature some of the best bands from the Southeast along with great local food trucks, breweries, and wine shops.

The Futurebirds are an indie rock band formed in 2008 out of Athens, Georgia, that is known for high-energy shows and country-rock infused sound. Their music incorporates reverb-soaked four-part harmonies supported by pedal steel guitar, rhythmic percussion, banjo, mandolin, and acoustic and electric guitars with heavy feedback. Their sound has been described as “psychedelic country.” Providing drinks will be Cary’s own Bond Brothers Beer Company along with Bull City Ciderworks out of Durham. Philly’s Cheesesteak food truck out of Raleigh and Buddhalicious out of Durham will be on site serving up their specialties.

The next Cary LIVE event is scheduled for Sept. 23.

Parking is available in downtown Cary on the street and in the parking lot at Cary Elementary School as well as the public library. Accessible parking is available at the Cary Arts Center, 101 Dry Ave. In support of the event, South Academy Street will be closed between Dry Avenue and Charlie Gaddy Lane from 5-10:30 p.m. Those looking for alternative routes may use South Harrison Avenue or South Walker Street.

Pets on a leash are allowed. A limited number of chairs will be provided, but citizens are encouraged to bring their own if they want to be sure to have a seat. Cary Live events occur rain or shine; in the event of inclement weather, concert goers can visit www.townofcary.org/rainout for the latest programming information.
