Take A Breather Foundation will be hosting the Bowling for a Breather fundraiser at the Cinebowl & Grille in Cary on May 18 from 7-11 p.m.

This foundation, which  originated in Pennsylvania has recently begun providing “Breathers” to Cystic Fibrosis patients in North Carolina and we would like to get the word out about this event as well as our foundation.

All proceeds from the event support the Take A Breather Foundation and our mission to provide a breather, in the form of a wish, to those living with Cystic Fibrosis (CF). Take A Breather  Foundation has provided over 200 breathers for children and young adults living with this disease and we are proud to have recently provided breathers to patients in North Carolina, including  a family vacation to Disney World, the Grand Canyon and the Florida Keys.

Cystic fibrosis is a progressive, genetic disease that effects the lungs, pancreas and other organs. It causes persistent lung infections and limits the ability to breathe over time. There are roughly 30,000 people in the US living with CF and the average life expectancy for someone born today with the disease is early forties.

Our goal is to give those living with CF, along with their families, the opportunity to “take a breather” from CF and focus on creating magical memories that will stay with them for a lifetime. Memories that will strengthen their hearts and minds as they battle the psychological, emotional and economic turmoil that accompanies life with Cystic Fibrosis.

All funds raised at this event will be used to grant more wishes to residents of North Carolina living with Cystic Fibrosis.
