Saturday, Sept. 29: Taking care of business
From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., bring your expired, unwanted — and potentially dangerous — prescriptions drugs to Garner Town Hall for free disposal by the Garner Police Department and the federal Drug Enforcement Administration.
Also that day, a rabies/microchip clinic will be held at Lake Benson Park, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Rabies shots will be $5; microchips will be $10; cash only please. A three-year vaccine will be available with proof of one-year vaccine.
All dogs must be on leashes, and cats in carriers. The clinic is sponsored by Garner Animal Control, Ansede Animal Hospital, WCAS and SPCA.
Tuesday, Oct. 2: National Night Out
The Garner Police Department and Target will host this community event from 6 to 8:30 p.m., in the parking lot of Target at White Oak Crossing shopping center. Held nationwide, the event promotes police-community partnerships, safety and neighborhood unity. Get crime-prevention and injury-prevention tips, find fun activities for kids, and more.
Friday, Oct. 5: Country artist Gene Watson
Gene Watson and the Farewell Party Band perform at the Garner Performing Arts Center at 7:30 p.m. Over a 40-year career, Watson has more than 72 charted songs, including 23 Top Tens and six No. 1 hits, and is known by fans as one of the genre’s best ballad singers. Saturday, Oct. 6: Clean up, and salute a firefighter
Garner’s Fall 2012 Litter and Big Sweep will take place, with registration at 8:30 a.m., at White Deer Park Nature Center. Cleanup supplies and free breakfast will be provided. To RSVP, contact Jaclyn Sumner at (919) 773-4421 or jsumner@garnernc.gov.
