Wedding Whites

On the day you’ve dreamed of all your life, make a statement. Do you want to feel like a princess in a classic ball gown, or would you rather let your inner wild child peek out with black-on-white accents or funky accessories?

Emily Cox, at Traditions by anna bridal boutique at North Hills, chimed in on the rising trends for the upcoming wedding season.

                                                                   Trend: Not Chantilly

Lace gowns have a classic look and feel. Alencon lace, which has been produced for centuries, can truly withstand the test of time.

Trend: Black Accents

“Touches of black have become very popular on the runway,” said Cox. “It is a little daring, but on the right gown, the look can remain classic and sophisticated.”

                                                                   Trend: Floral Details

“They give a fun, flirty feel to any wedding,” Cox noted. Subtle beading on the skirt adds a touch of elegance.

                                                                          Trend: Belts

They draw attention to a feminine waistline. Some brides opt for multiple belts — one for the ceremony and a “funkier” one for the reception. Color is also increasingly popular on belts.

                                                                      Trend: Sleeves

Combining the classic look of an off-the-shoulder dress with the sophistication of a lace sleeve, this gown is great in cooler months.

                                                               Trend: Getaway Dresses

As receptions seem to run later and later, many brides are selecting a going away dress that’s shorter and simpler in addition to the ceremony gown. They still feel like the bride, but have a chance to be comfortable while dancing the night away.
