Have Some Fun, Do Some Good

You usually see him on TV anchoring the news, but Bill Leslie will appear live and in person onstage at the Garner Performing Arts Center next Saturday, Dec. 15.

Bill Leslie, an award-winning Celtic musician, and musical group Lorica will take to the stage as part of the second season of the GPAC’s It’s Showtime! series, in a concert set for 7:30 p.m.

Can’t wait to get in on the musical fun? Check out The Sandbox Band at 11 a.m. on Dec. 15, where you can sing along to favorite holiday tunes, enjoy a visit with Santa and the missus, and chow down on a boxed lunch that’s included with admission.

Bring a food donation, get a handcrafted bowl! Support the food pantry of Garner Area Ministries by taking part in Empty Bowl Project Day this Saturday, Dec. 8 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., at Vandora Springs Elementary School.

For a donation of 20 non-perishable food items for the pantry, you’ll receive a unique bowl created by students of the school’s art teacher, Jim Hunt. The school is located at 1300 Vandora Springs Road in Garner. For more info, call (919) 662-2486.

Find handmade items from quilts and pillows to stockings, dolls and afghans made by On the Mend volunteers, known for their donations to local hospitals, nursing homes and others in need.
