Free Yoga

Healing and stress reduction, through yoga and meditation — free for military families.

Beginning this Sunday, Jan. 24, You Call This Yoga, a nonprofit which helps the physically challenged and underserved improve their lives with yoga, will provide free yoga and meditation classes at all skill levels to military personnel and their families.

The free classes will be taught at One Heart Yoga, located at 301 S. Main St. in Fuquay-Varina.

“It’s our duty to help those who serve to protect our country and values,” said Dr. Howie Shareff, executive director of You Call This Yoga.

“Through this program, we can assist service members and families in managing the physical, mental and emotional toll that military service can bring about.”

A team of four yoga teachers will help active-duty and retired military personnel and their family members, ages 4 and older, experience the healing and stress-reducing benefits of yoga and meditation.

Classes and times are as follows:

4 to 4:45 p.m., “Yoga for Families,” and “Meditation to Reduce Stress and Invite Healing”

5 to 6:15 p.m., “Yoga for Military Personnel,” and “Adaptive Yoga for Military Personnel,” intended for people who are challenged in their capacity to walk, stand or move swiftly.

To register for these classes, email howie@youcallthisyoga.org or call (919) 522-2646.
