Zombies, Iguanas & Coupons – Oh My!

We love the outdoors as much as you do, but when it gets too hot, it’s time to find some indoor fun for the family.

The good news? Free family fun is available locally!

From coupon swaps to zombies and superheroes, Garner’s Southeast Regional Library is the place for kids young and old to enjoy books, music and so much more.

Check out a sampling of the fun events happening both day and evening at the library throughout the month of July, then plan ahead for plenty more “cool” activities to get you through the dog days of August, too.

And of course, the library offers regularly scheduled story times for every age.

July 9: Save the world! At Book Adventures, kids grades K-2 explore secret identities and super powers, complete with superhero stories, games and a craft.

July 10: Plot twists and villains abound, at the Whodunits Book Club, one of several clubs that meet at the library.

July 11: Clip, clip — it’s the Savvy Savers coupon swap!

July 12: Spin a yarn — enjoy a spinning demo by the String Fling club, open to fiber-friendly crafters who knit, crochet, cross-stitch and more.

July 17: See Spot Read offers kids of all ages the chance to practice reading aloud, to a therapy dog!

July 19: Teen Time events run the gamut from jewelry making to journaling. But at this session, teens will create their own 3-D zombie character!

July 20 – Meet Grubella, a live iguana, when Triangle Iguana Rescue visits the library’s Discovery Club, for kids in grades K through 5.

In addition to these and other special programs, the library offers weekly Computer Tutor sessions each Wednesday, and story times for everyone from babies to adults, making it easy to plan your summer outings.

Be cool!

Southeast Regional Library is located at 908 Seventh Ave. in Garner, and is open seven days a week. For a full calendar of events, visit www.wakegov.com/images/library/locations/ser/.
