Little Portugal NC
Little Portugal brings the Pereiras’ family recipes to 736 N Main St., where the husband-and-wife owners have built a full-service Portuguese restaurant and market since opening in June 2020. The cozy dining room and personable hospitality have drawn a devoted following, earning the spot a 2023 Maggy Awards finalist nod for Best Mediterranean Restaurant.
Guests settle in for dishes like the signature churrasco char-grilled chicken served with house potato salad or garlicky rapini, alongside sizzling garlic shrimp, fried cod fish fritters, and crackling chourico links. Sandwich fans seek out the wine-and-garlic Prego on a Portuguese roll, while rotating specials showcase roasted cod, sauteed pork cutlets, and pan-seared salmon steak.
Save room for Portuguese egg custard tarts, the top-selling sweet that pairs with coffee or imported soda. A retail nook stocks olive oil, cheeses, sardines, and other staples shipped from Portugal, so guests can recreate flavors at home. Online ordering, takeout, and catering keep Little Portugal’s hospitality accessible beyond the dining room.
