“Ten on Ten Ten” Exhibition by artist Beth Barger
February 27 @ 5:00 pm - March 30 @ 9:00 pm
Beth Barger’s “Ten on Ten Ten” Exhibition preserves the rural landscapes of Ten Ten in oil paint. Featuring ten oil paintings, Barger’s captivating tribute to the rural lifestyle in Southern Wake County opens at Chef’s Palette on Feb. 27 and runs through March 30.
As a 30-year resident of Southern Wake County, Barger frequently travels the length of Ten Ten Road. With every trip, she is captivated by the small townships that flank its sides, serving as sentimental reminders of rural life as it was. Greeting the sunrise over the freshly cut hay, feeling the heat of the summer as the tobacco fields bloom, seeing the decorated tractor at Christmas time, and hopping over to Porter’s for fresh picked strawberries. These are the remnants of those days gone by. Remnants documented over the last year by Barger in a series of contemporary impressionist landscape paintings.
Each painting is inspired by an iconic scene found along Ten Ten Road. Upon learning that Ten Ten would be widened, and seeing the plans for the new 540 outer beltline that will cut through much of this land, Barger was inspired to document the stunning Ten Ten landscapes in oil paint before they are lost to eventual development.
