MUSIC FROM THE GREAT AMERICAN SONGBOOK

Mar 5, 2019 @ 7:30 pm - 9:30 pm

$22 – $25

Concert Singers of Cary and guest artists

Saturday, March 9 at 7:30PM
St. Francis UMC, 2965 Kildaire Farm Rd, Cary

The Great American Songbook is not, in fact, an actual book or physical collection that authoritatively defines this music. Rather than a binding, the songs are held together by the ethos of an era that many refer to as “The Golden Age of Song,” in which great melodies and sophisticated yet subtle harmonies were combined with witty lyrics and clever rhymes. Many of the writers of these songs are still household names today: George Gershwin, Irving Berlin, Cole Porter, Rodgers and Hammerstein, Hoagy Carmichael, the list goes on.

The quality and craftsmanship of the songs is demonstrated not only by their popularity, but also because they maintain their allure with performers of all types and styles. Above all, these works are the songs we love to sing!

We hope you’ll join us for this exciting program. Tickets are $25 for adults, $22 for seniors, and students are admitted free with an ID. Tickets can be purchased at the Cary Arts Center box office, online, or at the door — see our website for details.
