Cary, NC: Town of Cary Arbor Day Festival

Mar 21, 2020 @ 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm

Free

Stop by the Toward Zero Waste table at the Town of Cary, NC Arbor Day festival! From the TOC about the event:

Each spring, we continue the national tradition of celebrating the importance of trees with our Arbor Day Celebration in downtown Cary. A tree dedication ceremony opens the event, after which guests can enjoy free tree-themed crafts for kids, education, and entertainment. The event is free with local food and drink available for purchase. While supplies last, attendees can pick up a free tree to plant at home and enjoy time for Q&A with our certified arborist including tips for proper planting. Additional booths will be onsite representing other local environmentally focused groups.

After the festivities, enjoy a free screening of The Lorax at the Cary Theater at 3 p.m., just a short, walkable distance from Downtown Cary Park. The 2012 film is adapted from the classic Dr. Seuss story about the importance of trees and how small actions have a big effect on our environment. Free tickets are available at the box office, starting one hour prior to the screening while supplies last.

The Town of Cary has celebrated more than 36 years as a Tree City USA Community, a designation awarded based on our investment in the management of our urban forests.

The Arbor Day foundation is the world’s largest tree-planting organization. In our community we offer citizens the opportunity to plant trees, and perform other environmental service through our Spruce program. Since the Spruce program first began in 2009, our volunteers have planted over 10,000 trees, shrubs and plants in our community.
