Biggest Loser is Coming to Town!

By Nancy Pardue

The Biggest Loser is coming to our area this weekend for its only North Carolina open casting call, joining the grand opening celebration for Rex Healthcare’s newest wellness center, for two big events combined!

This Saturday, July 14, the new Rex of Knightdale Wellness Center will celebrate its grand opening with a fun day of festivities, from free tours and prize drawings to food and guests.

Also that day, The Biggest Loser will hold a casting call at the Wellness Center, in a search for individual contestants for Season 14 of the popular TV show.

Rex’s newest state-of-the-art wellness center is located at 6602 Knightdale Blvd., at U.S. 64 and Widewaters Parkway, in the center of Rex Healthcare’s Knightdale Campus, and is billed as Knightdale’s only medically-supervised wellness center.

This brings the number of Rex wellness centers to five, with other locations in Garner, Cary, Raleigh and Wakefield.

The new Knightdale facility offers programs and amenities including indoor pools and track; steam room, sauna and whirlpool; group exercise and private training studios; cardiovascular and weight training equipment; weight management classes; nutrition counseling; massage services, yoga and more.

Saturday’s scheduled lineup is as follows:
9 a.m., WQDR radio remote
9:30 a.m., exercise demo
10 a.m., speakers and ribbon cutting; Biggest Loser casting call opens
11 a.m., DJ music begins
11:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., exercise demos
1 p.m., conclusion of grand opening events
6 p.m., conclusion of casting call

Special guest at the grand opening will be Olympic swimmer David Fox, who earned the gold medal at the 1996 Summer Games held in Atlanta.

The Biggest Loser casting call will be held from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., for those ages 18 and older. For pre-registration info and specifics on casting call requirements, visit www.thebiggestlosercasting.com.
